Sutherland Global Services’ Mickey Renaud Memorial Scholarship Fund

Are you a high school senior in the Windsor Essex county area with a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher, who plans to pursue a degree in business or related field of study at St. Clair College? If you answered yes, this is your chance to receive $3,000 from the Sutherland Global Services’ Mickey Renaud Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Being a recipient of Sutherlands IT Scholarship also offers you first consideration for full time employment with the company.

Am I qualified?

Applicants must:

  • Be a permanent resident or Canadian citizen
  • Be a resident of Windsor Essex or Chatham-Kent County
  • Have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher
  • Be active in school or private sporting activities.
  • Select a business or related field of study at St. Clair College

 

How could I become a scholarship recipient?

Scholarships will be awarded to applicants by a committee, designated by Sutherland Global Services, based on a combination of the following criteria (in no particular order):

  • GPA score
  • Extracurricular involvement and leadership
  • Transcripts
  • Work history
  • Written essay

 

What do I get as an Scholarship recipient under the Sutherland Global Services’ Mickey Renaud Memorial Scholarship Fund?

  • Scholarship certificates will be presented on February 18.
  • Scholarship payment will be made directly to the college on recipient’s behalf.
  • Up to two $3,000 scholarships will be awarded each year to qualified candidates, one male and one female.

 

Scholarship Requirements

  • The deadline to apply is January 1st, to be eligible for a scholarship for the following academic year. Interested parties can apply using our online application.
  • Official transcripts are required for eligibility and must be postmarked by January 1st, and sent to:

  • Finalists will be chosen after all applications have been reviewed and will be notified during the second week in January.

 

Scholarship Acceptance agreement

  • This award is contingent on the recipient submitting to the scholarship committee written evidence of registration from the college that the student is or will be attending, and the recipient must be registered in such school as a non-probationary student.
  • The recipient must agree to maintain a satisfactory grade level and will forward to the scholarship committee either a copy of his or her grades each quarter or semester, whichever is applicable, or a transcript of grades for the year at the end of their high school year.
  • Payment of the benefits to scholarship winners may be temporarily suspended upon written request of the winner under certain circumstances.
  • In the event that the recipient’s education should be interrupted for some reason, he or she must understand that he or she must notify the scholarship committee in writing of such expected interruption and advise the Board of Trustees as to the cause for the interruption and the estimated date upon which he or she expects to resume their studies.
  • The scholarship committee will have the full discretion to make the final decisions concerning the number of scholarships awarded each year, the amounts awarded and the winners of each of the scholarships. The scholarship committee shall also have full discretion in deciding whether a scholarship is to be continued or deferred for any period of time.
  • I understand that it is my responsibility and not my parents to communicate with scholarship staff regarding problems and questions.
  • The recipient must make an appearance at the Spitfires home game on February 18th on the ice for a photo shoot.

 

Terms Governing Acceptance of Scholarship:

  • Applicant must be a member of a school board in Essex or Chatham County.
  • Scholarships will only be awarded to students who meet educational and sporting requirements of this award.
  • If student misses a semester, scholarship money does not apply to additional lessons (make-up lessons).
  • If lessons are terminated between high school and student, immediate written notification to the scholarship committee is necessary.
  • Scholarship will not automatically transfer if student changes study stream.
  • Notification of termination of scholarship will be in writing and sent to both affected college and student.
  • Scholarship recipients can apply and be considered for aid for any other scholarships and should apply for each event accordingly.
